Westgate Cathedral

Older than the walls of the city itself, the *Westgate Cathedral* grew to become one of the greatest holy places in the city of Caratia. It's position in heart of the city walls made it significant defensive construction and for politically expedient reasons, in some point in it's history it became an actual gate into the city. The building had evolved into a significant defensive structure over the years however now it is in ruins following the sack of the city.

A great arch still stands where once the sturdy gates were, but it is isolated from the collapsed city walls. Beyond it, through piles of collapsed masonry, the second gateway is still present in the back wall which remains standing. Amidst the ruins there are still recognisable features and the great obsidian altar has been cleared of rubble and stands as a reminder of the glory that was here.
